What this day is

The standard Xi'an first day, sequenced so the Terracotta Army gets the morning — the pits are an hour out of town and considerably less pleasant once the afternoon coaches arrive. Lunch is at a local restaurant on the way back in, then the Tang-dynasty Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, and the Ming city wall last. Ending on the wall is deliberate: the light is better and you are already back inside the centre when the day finishes.
